I have to admit, as much as I believe in the power of meditation, I was not a big fan of the the "Journey On". It actually made me a bit uncomfortable. For whatever reason, I did not like the voice of the man on the recording. I am not sure exactly why, but I didn't. I did like the idea of moving the blood flow out of the core and to other parts of the body to ensue relaxation. I will definitely use that technique next time I meditate.
Jean,
ReplyDeleteI agree that the voice of the recording was a bit goofy, it was making me laugh at first and I was having some difficulty even trying to relax. But, once I was able to get over my laughter, I found the exercise to be beneficial. I also really liked the idea of using the mind to move the blood flow to different areas of the body. I'm glad that you were at least able to get some new ideas for meditation out of the exercise!

It honestly can be a little weird at first especially with the stigma that a lot of meditation and visual imagery exercises are just fake. However, once you just go with it you can really see that there really is something to it. This is one of the reasons that the books states that we really have to shift our thinking and believe that the alternative treatments work. Great post though and just try to block out some of the stigma and just get the full experience!
ReplyDeleteHi Jean,
ReplyDeleteI can see how the voice was alittle weird, but I actually felt very relaxed. It was one of those things I wasn't sure if it had been because I worked a full shift before listening to it or because was actually relaxing. I also liked how breathing was so important and mentioned to breath from the core, which is definitely pretty deep, but was beneficial in my case. Interesting audio1
